COC Innovations F-5 Parking Brake

COC Aerospace Inc. has developed a parking brake for the Northrop F-5 fighter. Believe it or not, this aircraft was designed without a parking brake.

Parking Brake Kit comes fully assembled, ready to install in the LH Speed Brake Housing of F-5 & F-5E aircraft.

COC Park Brake comes with replacement for cross beam 14-16219-5 including sheet metal angle 14-16219-11 which is used to secure the access door.

Parking Brake with hose assemblies attached

Hose assemblies attach to the park brake valve assembly with self sealing Quick Disconnect (QDs) that install on to the lower wing skin. This allows the speed brake housing to be easily removed and replaced for servicing.

All of the hardware, fasteners and component parts are included with COC’s Parking Brake

Hose assemblies attach with the self sealing quick disconnect ‘QDs’ that attach to the lower wing skin.

COC Park Brake Installation into Speed Brake

COC installs the Park Brake into speed brake housing. It is accessible through access door, PN 14-16214-3, The components are accessible through this door for ease of maintenance.

COC Park Brake Instal on Speed Brake

The COC F-5 Parking Brake Assembly installs into the speed brake housing that it maintains the clearances required. COC designed the installation so the existing components remain unchanged, or they are replaced by identical components.

COC assembly includes HL10VAZ6 rated at 95,000 psi shear and fasteners with NAS1351C3 stainless cap bolts rated at 1,600 LBF, HT 180,000 KSI and MS21043-3 CRES-A286 aerospace lock nuts; axial strength 2,460 with operating temperature of max 800 Degrees Fahrenheit.

COC Parking Brake Assembly does not impact the primary structure classification of the Speed Brake Assembly.

COC produces a newly manufactured cross beam so that mounting plate and mounting support, which are new, are attached to a new beam. This eliminates installing the new COC F-5 Parking Brake components to older components.
‘Best Practices’ are followed from 01-F-5AAA SRM in the design and implementation. All of the original design of the speed brake remains. (please refer to the Parking Brake Structural Analysis Report)
FEA Analysis performed at 9g is more than adequate for determining loads, deflection, and structural security of installation.
COC provides all the hardware required to install the Parking Brake Assembly. Product comes complete, ready for installation.
